A Light for Those Facing Loss of Movement

Every week, we meet people living with conditions that quietly reshape daily life. For some, even standing, walking, or getting out the door can feel like an uphill climb. And for others—especially those still waiting for a diagnosis—each day carries an edge of uncertainty: What’s happening to my body? Will I lose my independence?

One of the conditions that brings people to RegenClinic is Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a progressive disease that affects the nerve cells responsible for voluntary muscle movement. Over time, these motor neurons weaken and die, leading to gradual loss of strength, coordination, and mobility. Early signs can include muscle cramps, twitching, weakness in the arms or legs, and changes in speech or swallowing.

While ALS can be deeply challenging, it’s important to remember that no two journeys are the same—and that care goes far beyond diagnosis. At RegenClinic, we focus on what remains: energy, circulation, and the body’s natural capacity for repair. Our goal is to help you maintain comfort, mobility, and connection, even as symptoms change.

Because ALS affects more than the body—it affects confidence, independence, and often, a sense of belonging. That’s why our team combines light therapy with compassionate support, creating space where patients feel heard, understood, and part of a caring community that’s walking this path together.

Understanding ALS and its impact

ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative condition that affects the brain and spinal cord’s motor neurons—nerve cells responsible for muscle movement. As these cells degenerate, the brain loses the ability to control voluntary muscles, eventually impacting walking, speaking, swallowing, and breathing.

Although there’s currently no cure, emerging approaches like Red Light Therapy are showing promise in supporting nerve health and improving quality of life.

What the research shows

Recent studies exploring Red Light Therapy for ALS suggest that light therapy may help protect nerve cells and support mitochondrial function—the energy systems that keep cells alive. According to a 2024 literature review by Sergey V. Moskvin (Photobiomodulation Therapy in the Treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis; PMCID: PMC10962560), Red Light Therapy can modulate inflammation, improve oxygenation, and enhance cellular energy production in affected neural tissues.

While Red Light Therapy is not a cure, it’s being studied as an adjunctive therapy that may help slow functional decline, ease stiffness, and support overall energy levels. The research emphasizes the importance of consistent, targeted application—an approach we take seriously at RegenClinic.

How treatments work at RegenClinic

RegenClinic uses THOR Photomedicine equipment, the same medical-grade systems used in neurological research clinics worldwide. For conditions like ALS, our treatment plan typically includes:

• Whole-body NovoTHOR bed: Gentle red and near-infrared light supports circulation, reduces inflammation, and restores cellular energy. Sessions start at 6 minutes and gradually increase to 20 minutes, usually done twice a week (sometimes daily at first).

• Focused laser therapy: Handheld LED or laser probes target key areas such as the neck, spine, shoulders, and lymph nodes to stimulate blood flow and ease muscle stiffness. Each site is treated for about a minute.

Over time, patients often report feeling more relaxed, with smoother movement, less muscle tension, and greater energy stability between sessions. Treatments are non-invasive, deeply calming, and can also be provided at home for those with limited mobility

🍃 Support that goes beyond treatment

Living with ALS—or waiting for answers—can feel isolating, especially when family is far away or mobility is limited. That’s why the Regen team offers home-visit treatments, ongoing education through research updates, and a caring patient community where people can share stories and feel less alone.

We believe healing isn’t only about the body—it’s about belonging, dignity, and feeling seen. Every session, every conversation, is part of that care.
