A Light That Brings Movement Back: Brian’s Parkinson’s Journey
At RegenClinic, we’ve seen how consistent care, patience, and hope can change lives. One of the stories that reminds us why we do what we do is Brian Galey’s. His journey with Parkinson’s disease shows how Red Light Therapy can help restore movement, energy, and confidence—one step at a time.

From a Walker to the Ballet
When Brian first arrived at RegenClinic in January, he was using a walker and struggling with mobility. Parkinson’s had made even simple movements difficult, and his energy was low. Still, he came in twice a week and stayed committed to his treatment plan.
Over time, small improvements began to appear. His legs felt less stiff, his balance improved, and his energy started to return. By spring, those small steps added up to something incredible—Brian was able to walk on his own and attend the Ballet Victoria performance of Aladdin. It was a huge milestone for someone who, just months earlier, could hardly move without help.
Our founder, Sasha Zhang, gifted him two tickets to the show to celebrate his progress, and he enjoyed a night that symbolized how far he’d come. As Sasha put it, “He is one of our most dedicated clients. Our twice-weekly therapy has helped him regain mobility and given him hope for fighting Parkinson’s.”
Understanding Parkinson’s Disease
Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological condition that affects how the brain controls movement. According to the Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic, it occurs when nerve cells that produce dopamine—a chemical responsible for smooth, coordinated muscle activity—begin to break down.
Symptoms develop gradually and often include:
- Tremors or shaking
- Stiffness or rigidity
- Slowed movement (bradykinesia)
- Changes in posture or balance
- Difficulty speaking or writing
Non-motor symptoms are also common—such as sleep problems, mood changes, and fatigue. While there is no known cure, treatments can ease symptoms and help people maintain independence and quality of life.
How Red Light Therapy Supports Parkinson’s
Red light therapy uses specific wavelengths of light to help cells produce energy more efficiently. The light is absorbed by mitochondria (the “power plants” of our cells), stimulating repair, improving circulation, and reducing inflammation.
For people with Parkinson’s, PBM may help by:
- Supporting dopamine-producing neurons in the brain
- Improving oxygenation and blood flow
- Reducing oxidative stress and neuroinflammation
- Enhancing muscle control and motor coordination
At RegenClinic, we use THOR Laser systems—the same medical-grade devices trusted by hospitals and researchers worldwide—to deliver this therapy safely and precisely.
The RegenClinic Approach
Each patient’s plan is tailored to their needs, but Brian’s protocol included both transcranial (helmet-based) treatments and laser acupuncture focused on key neurological and muscular points. These sessions were designed to:
- Stimulate brain and spinal regions involved in movement
- Improve lymphatic drainage and oxygen delivery
- Reduce rigidity and restore motor function
Sessions are non-invasive, painless, and take less than 30 minutes. Many patients describe them as calming and restorative—both physically and mentally.
A Family Story
Brian’s progress has also inspired his family. His son, who began red light therapy shortly after, shared his own experience:
“After my first appointment, I went home and slept over 12 hours. The next day, I truly felt rejuvenated, energetic, and happy. I’ve been getting 8 hours of sleep consistently and wake up feeling fresh and excited—something I hadn’t felt for months.”
Healing can begin with one person’s courage—and ripple outward to touch the lives of those around them.
A Light That Restores Hope
When asked how he felt about his experience at RegenClinic, Brian wrote three simple words on his patient questionnaire: “Saved my life.”
For us, that says it all. Every day, we see how light therapy doesn’t just support the body—it helps restore dignity, connection, and hope. Parkinson’s may be a lifelong journey, but with consistency and care, it’s one that can still hold moments of strength, joy, and possibility.
